Candidates question quarry rules

Green Party candidate Rob Strang says review of Aggregate Resources Act “is simply the first step in solving a much larger, more complex, situation. Beyond the ARA, the next move, and “much more meaningful step,” would be to review the Greater Golden Horseshoe Growth Plan, which calls for 80 per cent of Ontario’s growth to occur in this region.”
“They’re gradually scratching the surface of the problem here,” Strang said, adding the Green Party would also review the ARA. “Reviewing the act doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll make the necessary charges.”
