Green Party leader Elizabeth May visits Dufferin-Caledon
12 April 2011
Green Party leader Elizabeth May made downtown Orangeville the first stop yesterday in a four city swing through southern Ontario. Mono piper Joe Thompson led Ms. May and supporters, including Dufferin-Caledon Green Party Candidate and Party Finance Critic Ard Van Leeuwen, to a rally of more than 150 people at the Academy of Performing Arts on Broadway. Ms. May went on to address crowds in Guelph, Kitchener-Waterloo and Hamilton.
Dufferin-Caledon is one of the Green Party’s top ten ridings nationally. In the 2008 federal election the riding ranked sixth for Greens in Canada with 17% of the popular vote. Locally, the Greens came third, just two percent behind the Liberals.
