Strang Lands Deputy Leader Job for Ontario Greens

Former Orangeville town councillor and current Dufferin-Caledon provincial Green Party candidate Rob Strang was elected the new Deputy Leader of the Green Party of Ontario Sunday in Huntsville.
“We had three excellent candidates for the job,” said GPO Leader Mike Schreiner. “Rob brings a great deal of depth and experience to the Deputy Leader position and I look forward to working with him as we prepare to elect Green MPPs this Fall.”
Strang ran as the Green candidate in the 2007 provincial election, earning 16% of the popular vote in Dufferin-Caledon, the third strongest showing for the Green Party in Ontario. He most recently was appointed to the Shadow Cabinet as the party’s critic of Finance, Revenue & Economic Development and Trade.
From 2003 to 2006 he served on Orangeville town council and was an outspoken critic against residential development on employment lands. As a self-employed industrial hygienist, he travels to industries across the province making sure workers are not overexposed to hazardous chemicals. Originally from Scarborough, he has lived with his family in Dufferin County since 1988.
