Eliminate corporate donations
4 August 2011
Paula Conning, campaign manager, Dufferin-Caledon Green Party, letter to the editor: “The Highland Companies is not donating to the Liberal and Conservative parties because they believe it’s their corporate responsibility to promote democracy. They’re supporting the parties they believe are most likely to support their interests — the mega-quarry.
“The appearance of undue influence and the awkwardness of politicians voting on issues that benefit companies who have donated to their campaign is reason enough for eliminating such donations.
“Rob Strang, our Green Party Dufferin-Caledon candidate in this October’s election, is not seeking or accepting corporate or union donations to his campaign.”
